My Journey Toward Healthier Living

HalleyCallenFor a couple of years now, I’ve been hearing about a movement toward healthier eating and living. I would read articles about eating clean, as well as reports about the effects of toxins in our everyday lives. For a while, it was easy to ignore. I would read with detached fascination, mentally reassuring myself that my face wash, shampoo, and bathroom cleaning spray were “all natural.” After all, I was starting to eat organic food more consistently and I took my vitamins regularly. How could this lifestyle be unhealthy?

It wasn’t. But it also wasn’t enough. Did you know? “Your skin is your largest organ, and it absorbs up to 60% of what you put on it.” (Read more here.)

In 2013, my husband and I were thrilled to learn we were expecting a baby. I researched every product I used to find a safer version. It wasn’t easy, but I did everything I could to give our baby a healthy start.

When our son was 2 months old, he was diagnosed with eczema. With my husband’s lifelong chronic allergies and asthma, I knew our family had to do a better job of reducing or eliminating our exposure to chemicals in everyday things. I don’t necessarily believe that toxins were the sole cause of these conditions, but I knew they weren’t helping.

FamilyBy this summer, I had seen enough to know that I had to act. I started the process of purging as many chemicals and toxins from our house as I could. I used the Environmental Working Group’s Skindeep Database to check the safety of various products. And I was introduced to Beautycounter by my mom and her friend Christine. I had the opportunity to try the Essentials line and the Lustro Face Oil. I was hooked! My face felt clean, moisturized, and beautiful. I was so excited to order the products for myself, and using them every morning and evening felt special.

Knowing how much we loved the products, Christine approached my mom and me about the opportunity to join Beautycounter as consultants. This would enable me to invite others to share in the experience of using Beautycounter’s products and reduce their daily exposure to toxins in personal care products.

I’m so excited to be a Beautycounter consultant! I know that Beautycounter’s skin care lines and makeup are safe and beautiful. Contact me to try these amazing products. Join the Beautycounter community in our mission to get safe products into the hands of everyone.
